Weekend Spending & Meal Plan

January 18th, 2015 at 09:51 am

We both got paid & since it had been a while since we received any money, we treated ourselves. We spent roughly what we used to spend weekly - $535 - however $161 was allocated to savings & debt repayment ($106 to 52 wk challenge, $55 to go to B's parents to repay loan), so I'm happy about that.

It was a quiet weekend- B visited a friend, I visited my sister, we had pizza last night. Also from our weekly money I got a $20 iTunes card so I could buy an app for my phone company so I can see what my data usage on my phone is (believe it or not it's a whole $1.30- I had to spend $20 to get something worth $1.30!!!).

Meal plan:
Tonight - curried sausages & mashed potatoes
Monday - pasta with ham & white wine sauce
Tuesday- burgers with mashed potatoes & vegetables
Wednesday - steak, mashed potatoes & vegetables
Thursday - stir fry chicken & rice
Friday - TBA

We thought we were going to a BBQ last so I bought 2 kilos of sausages. As we didn't end up going we now have 3 weeks worth of sausages! Hoping we don't get sick of them too soon!

I'm so jealous that it's your summer. You can do lots with sausages, you'll be fine.

Well, you can always freeze what you won't eat right away.

Mmmm. I'll have to try curried sausages. Do you prepare them with a curried ketchup like the Germans do?

    ^^ Mmm, currywurst ;-)

We've been buying a few extra for the weekly barbie and it's then a cheap lunch filling for a couple of days too.

Scottish Girl you may be jealous that it's our winter but one of the things I had to buy last weekend was a new quilt cover (a summer quilt, it's thinner than a sleeping bag) as it's been so hot that I've been waking up between 3.30-5.30 every night! Trust me, there's good & bad things with everything.. We did freeze the other sausages.. TD- we actually cheat on this meal and use a powdered recipe base! We do add ketchup to it though.. I did cook the pasta with ham & white wine sauce from scratch though
